Indian Chief- Japan
The quiet of the evening was erupted as the rabble of the sewers climbed out to reclaim the streets. The coming darkness let them steal, rob and fight without fear of interruption from the law. Gangs lined the streets keeping the good citizens from leaving their homes. Shei-an walked down the center street between the torn walls of her beloved city looking for trouble as she had done since her parents died. She defended no one and had killed several gang members to avenge her parents’ death. The deaths had not been enough to ease her broken heart but she still had her sister to protect from the scum that ran the night streets. A gunshot rang out and she fell to ground looking for the shooter. Her face pressed to the sidewalk as she held her breath. “This is not good,” she thought as she rolled closer to the brick building behind her. Another shot rang out but she could not see where it came from or where it was going. Like rats in the sewer, several people dressed in rag-tag clothes with bandannas tied to their arm ran into the streets chased by another group. They stopped and turned brandishing weapons of all kinds. From her hiding spot, Shei-an saw chains, knives, clubs and boards with nails in them on both sides of the street. One guy shouted and they clashed like old warriors, each beating the closest person to them. The war seemed to go on for hours but it was not even twenty minutes when the police sirens split the air and the rats ran for the sewers. A few never made it, as they lay there waiting their fate.
“Shei-an” She heard a weak and familiar voice. She walked slowly in the direction of the voice and she gasped when she realized who was calling her.
“Shei-an” Her sister’s feeble voice ripped through her heart like a knife as she knelt down beside her.
“I had to come,” she said as she held her side, “He sent me.” As Shei-an pulled open her younger sister’s shirt she saw the bullet hole in her chest. From her sleeve the younger girl pulled a gleaming sword and pushed into her sister’s hand. “He sent me,” She said again.
“Who sent you? Why did you leave our home?” Shei-an’s tears ran down her face as she held the girl in her arms. The girl’s face became clouded and a face appeared to Shei-an.
“You are the chosen one. You must save the world. Save the others.” His eyes closed and he disappeared leaving a dead girl in Shei-an’s arms. The lights of the police split the darkness and she laid her sister down and grabbed the sword. She felt an electrical charge as she held it close to her and ran to the nearest alley. “She couldn’t be caught here. Her revenge would not be served if she was in jail.” She thought as she fled.
